Remember that Oprah lady? Well, even though she’s now off the air, her product recommendations will live forever. So when I was asked to review one of the items she included in her fashion must-haves of 2011, I just couldn’t pass it up.
Enter The Shirt by Rochelle Behrens. Looks like a regular old button-down right? Wrong! This shirt is kind of amazing. And I’m not just saying that because Oprah did (or the New York Times). At least I don’t think I am, consciously.
Here’s the deal: It’s a button-down shirt made for women who struggle with that annoying gaping that happens near your boobs.
Ms. Behrens has created this system (a.k.a Dual Button Technology) with hidden buttons on the under-placket near the biggest part of your chest. So simple, yet so smart. I used to resort to safety pins or fashion tape in a bind, but this makes it sooo much easier.
I was given the skinny one to review, and am quite happy! They come in other styles too: classic, ruffled, and bow front.
My only qualm? It takes a little more effort and an extra three seconds to button the shirt. But I’d be spending the same amount of time–or longer–trying to pin the dumb placket closed. So really, there is no qualm.
They run pretty true to size, so don’t worry about buying big. And alas, don’t worry ever again about flashing your bra! Thank goodness.
